Someone asked what the toner refill model number was (MLT-D111S) and after a google search the cost of a cartridge is higher than the cost of the printer.

$135 after shipping from the 3rd party seller on
Amazon.
I was able to purchase one through Office Depot online for $34.99 though.

The main problem with the cheap Samsung printers is the paper handling. If you print infrequently, you probably won't hate it.

I bought a Samsung ML-1865W mono laser printer similar to this one a decade ago for about $50. It worked great: fast, clean, crisp prints, wireless, no problems at all (albeit, no automatic double sided printing). It still works to this day, even on the original "starter" toner cartridge that it shipped with (I don't print very many pages). Unfortunately, after a decade of sitting around, the drum has gone bad and now prints come out with patches of faded areas and extraneous horizontal lines. Still, can't really blame it considering how old it is now. Very impressed that the starter cartridge lasted that entire time.

Replacement toner cartridges have a replacement drum built-in. The official Samsung cartridge costs $100, but third party "compatible" cartridges are available today for $13. This deal's newer printer undoubtedly has only high cost replacement cartridges available today, but I bet in a few years, third party cartridges will become available at reasonable prices.

This M2024W looks a lot like my old ML-1865W, just slightly smaller dimensions, slightly lighter weight, and slightly faster PPM. Considering how good my old Samsung printer was, this new printer seems like a good deal. I could gamble on a $13 third party cartridge to try to restore the print quality of my old printer, or at this price just get a whole new printer...

No longer available at
Amazon
but I nabbed one at the office depot website and added a pen to get the free shipping. For occasional use, at this price and small size, seems perfect. We also have an inkjet but because I use it infrequently, the nozzles gum up. Also when I do print on the ink jet (Epson), it refuses to print even black if one of the colours runs out. Real frustrating that.
