Why would anyone buy a Huewei phone at any price?

Because they are the best in quality for value and advancement. Every phone have security flaw regardless of how you see it period

But folks- this is more than "security flaw". There are VERIFIED backdoors built into their devices, particularly in firmware, which is difficult to find/track/uncover.

Any evidence supporting your accusation about "VERIFIED backdoors built into their devices", i.e. who found it, what the backdoor does, which specific device, any legal case, etc?

Your posted link is about "huawei-personnel-have-close-links-chinas-military". LOL, tell Edward Snowden that US phone makers/operators have no link with NSA, FBI, CIA, ....

Huawei can't use google or chrome on their device no more with US government restriction.

Per current news those restrictions have been lax by the U.S Government. Folks we have to remember that the global technology industry is interdependent and interrelated. And you can not just overlook the influence that a global giant like Huawei who Is the number one
    equipment make and provider have.

Their phone are good quality, affordable and high end in technology and innovation.

I always believe in the saying that competition brings effciency and Huawei does just that they give Apple and Samsung around for their money and in the end consumers get better product and technology.

I love this phone. Specs are very similar to Samsung Note 9 (except for a memory card slot). I wish I would wait for this deal and save $100 .

No need to down vote this. He poses a valid question with all of the security concerns brought against this company.

awesometroop, perhaps you don't know Huawei is helping all the UK's top carriers build their 5G networks including Vodafone

Most people don't know bugs/flaws/backdoor exist in almost all telecom hardware/software, that's why you see periodical updates. However is it equal to an intelligence spying device? See what security experts say

Some serious rationalization going on here. Google has already said it's cutting this company off. So no future updates and no access to the Google ecosystem in the future. For that reason alone (ignoring the ample security concerns), this is a phone to avoid.
