I have this... Bought it for around $500 couple years back. Works great as long as you have a water softener and a lot of room on your electrical panel.

Ya same. They do NOT last very long. Do not expect 10-15 years like a typical hot water tank. Maybe 5 or so. I had to drop a special bundle of cable from the main breaker for this baby. It takes three, THREE, 40 amp, dipole breakers. FORTY AMPS! And THREE OF THEM!

But it heats water for my whole house without ever running out. I have 6 people in my house with 6 bedrooms and this keeps up. And despite what you hear, it has no discernible effect on my power bill.

Despite it's lower life expectancy. I'd still rather just order a new one every 5 -8 years rather than pay 3000$+ for gas. I do have rather hard water though also.

If it has a lifetime warranty for residential use, who cares that it only lasts 5 years? Doesn't the warranty cover replacement/repairs?

It's not practical for me to get that much power to where my plumbing is. But if your panel is close to your hot water distribution, good for you. Also note that which size model you need is dependent on your incoming water temperature (generally based on where you live).

This is a great price for an electric Water Heater. Definitely beats paying for high gas. The word "Gas" has a negative vibe with me now be it petroleum, from expensive utility companies and natural. In the "End" we end up paying more than what we think and always feel ripped off.

I have 2 of these in series. Purchased first 2/23/13 and second a month later. Unlimited hot water. No issues since my well water is just right. I did replace a control board on one last year - $70 or so and easy to do.

My wife likes a garden tub bath and my daughters want showers or baths at the same time. Our old 80 gal water heater could not keep up. These babies have no issues. Perfect!!
