Yes, while it accepts 1080p input it will downscale it to DVD resolution -- more than acceptable for a backyard movie night where you project onto the side of the house or a hanging sheet. Image quality is excellent, especially considering the price. Great for the kids.
I bought one of these last year for a campout in a barn. The kids played xbox on it for hours and it was worth every penny. Considering i could have spent $300+++ on taking the kids to a "fun park" for a few hours, the money spent on the projector and a white shower curtain probably made better memories. On the negative side, it has to be very dark for it to work well. We occasionally use it in the house on a wall, but it only works in a very dark room.
