I have a couple of 500GB (525GB) MX300 drives that I think are great. I don't think you can really go wrong getting Crucial memory/SSD's. The 5 year warranty is a bonus. This review (https://www.anandtech.com/show/12165/the-crucial-mx500-1tb-ssd-review/8) is worth reading if you're considering this drive. TL;DR - Good drive, good update of the MX300 series.
My friend just got the 2TB version of this drive last week. So far so good dual booting KXStudio Linux and Windows 7. Everything is so much faster now. The laptop weighs noticeably less, and the laptop stays cool unlike before with a 2TB Seagate Firecuda. That reduced power consumption/heat production results in less thermal throttling of the CPU clock speed, giving a double whammy of speed boost from this upgrade.
OTOH, there are over a hundred 1 star reviews of the MX500 on Many of those state that the drive was great at first, but then crapped out in a month or two. YMMV.
I've been very happy with my Crucial SSDs (to say nothing of their RAM) over the years. I've had an M4 (2013), M500 (2014), and two MX200s (2015 and 2016), all of which are still functioning. Just ordered a P1 for a new build.
