I don't bother with this. Easier to just pop a card out, stick in reader.
I have this working on a 5200. It allows remote shutter and does actually save the jpg to my android devices, although you won't get rapid shots, if your doing a lot of "selfies" this a decent way to remote view your pic from the mobile app. It plugs directly into the port on all three of my Nikons although I only tried the app on the 5200, no extension cable needed. If you dont have an ir remote but you do have a smartphone it is worth that price.
